The Tamil festival of Pongal which is a Thanksgiving to the Sun God for Harvest was celebrated at all of the Kiran Schools. Sarkarai Pongal, a rice pudding is cooked in decorated mud pots and served to all the kids and staff as part of the celebration. The school floors were decorated with kolam which is the floor drawings made using color powder. The kids performed traditional dances and prizes were given to the best performers. The kids learnt the significance of farming and harvest traditions and the importance of being thankful to nature.
