Students at Sacred Heart School - Pramankeni celebrated World Women’s Day on 8th March with special programs. Their correspondent Sr. Maria Selvam, Ms. Krishnaveni and Ms. Tamilarasi from CRDS were the chief guests. They conducted a rally with banners and posters. It went through the main streets of the village. All of the students participated in it and they recited slogans as they were walking. Some of the village women saw the rally and they too joined with them. At the end there was an effective speech by M.Charulatha of VIII Std., about wonderful women of the world like Mother Theresa, Sarojini Naidu, , Sunitha Williams, , Kalpana Chawla, Kiran Bedi, Dr.Muthulakshmi Reddy . After the speech, some of the women came forward to perform traditional gummi with Tamil folk songs. This program attracted standing ovation. High school girls composed songs about women and sang them on the stage like professionals. Women from self-help groups came on the stage and explained the problems faced by them. Young girls gave narration of their life ordeals at the hand of evil persons. Sr. Maria Selvam, correspondent of the school, gave a wonderful thought-provoking speech about women and their values. The village panchayat took upon them all the expenses of the day. Sr.Delsia thanked everyone for their enthusiastic participation. The programme came to an end at 5.30pm with National Anthem.
