Cots for Tots
Kiran Charities provides a broad range of support for schools that serve the impoverished children of India. Many of the big needs such as adequate facilities, teacher salaries, sanitation, nutrition, and technology in the classrooms are being addressed. However, many additional needs continue to be of concern.
Over 4,500 children in ten schools are benefiting from the services and support that are made possible through the Kiran Charities. However, there still remains much work to be done.
One third of the students enrolled in a Kiran Model School live at their respective schools. They are there because they are the "forgotten children of India". Many of them sleep on the ground under the watchful eyes of matrons who supervise and protect the children throughout the night. Some children have the benefit of thin straw mats that are often shared by two children.
Through the Kids-to-Kids initiative Kiran Charities is initiating a "Cots for Tots" campaign. For each $50 donation, one child will be able to have a bed. Our goal is to provide cots for 100 children. Local craftsmen will build the cots based upon an approved plan. In turn, this will not only benefit the children, but in a small way it will provide an income for local craftsmen and their families.
As is true with all Kiran Charity donations, 100% of the donations made to "Cots for Tots" will go towards meeting our goal.
